What perspective would you like to express in your artwork?
What do you want to paint?
Being an artist is about exploring, evolving, and self expression.
In this module we will look at the work of 4 young artists. We will follow along as they find their own voice, make decisions about their personal perspective, and figure out how they want to express it within their art.
Chapter 1: Art as a communication tool
As a citizen of the world, who has lived in various places, this artist has encountered many communication barriers and works to express and resolve these barriers with her art.
Chapter 2: Life at home alongside large scale violence
This Canadian artist draws on her childhood experiences in Germany. She explores socially accepted forms of violence. Her work examines connections between the home environment and large scale acts of violence, such as the holocaust.
Chapter 3: Fusing traditional indigenous art with pop culture
In this chapter we will look at how a young indigenous artist fuses bold colourful woodland techniques with stuff from modern pop. His novel approach is proving very successful for him.
Chapter 4: Looking at the future
This chapter focuses on the future. The artist uses science fiction to present futuristic ideas about revolution and social reform. Her work offers a diasporic vision, fused with humour, hope and dread.
