The Salt Spring National Art Prize
The intent of SSNAP is to encourage artists whose practice demonstrates originality, quality, integrity and creativity—resulting in significant work with visual impact and depth of meaning. Approximately 50 finalists will be selected by an independent jury from across Canada to participate in the Finalists’ Exhibition on Salt Spring Island. Finalist selection process will be anonymous to the jury. The finalists’ works will not be revealed to the public until the opening of the SSNAP Exhibition September 24, 2021. Finalists may be selected to win one of ten awards, six selected by jurors and four selected by public vote.
Submissions are open now, until May 31.

Open Calls Coming up at Gerrard Art Space (GAS)
I value my on-going relationship with this delightful little gallery with a strong community focus. In addition to the member shows that I, along with my students participate in GAS also offers open call shows. I see a new opportunity coming up shortly…. The Self Portrait Show, March 17 – April 4, 2021. Have you been playing with self portraits during this pandemic? Time to bring them into the light. Details will be available shortly, watch the GAS site. At this moment, submissions are open for The Heart Show and The Textile Show – you can apply for these 2 shows right now, and the submission information for The Self Portrait Show will be be available shortly.

Would you like a longer time frame to prepare for a show – consider this: N3XTCanada has just wrapped up and plans are already under way for the next show – slated for 2022. The theme has already been determined, and a website will follow soon – I will keep you updated. For now, start thinking about the theme.
